Athletics Scholarship Program
The Mercer County Community College Athletic Department serves to enhance the educational, social, emotional and athletic development of all student-athletes through competitive intercollegiate offerings serving both men and women. Although MCCC is proud of its long history of success in athletics, its coaches, faculty and administrators believe their number one mission is to provide student-athletes with the opportunity of securing an affordable higher education defined by quality programs. The College's challenge is to sustain this access through the provision of student financial assistance.
The Mercer County Community College Athletic Department Scholarship Program helps to support the high academic and athletic goals annually met by our nine programs (baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis and women's cross country). The scholarship program is an avenue for alumni and community members to help continue the development of MCCC student-athletes both on and off the playing fields.
As student participation in athletics increases with the rise in popularity of youth sports programs, MCCC has not been able to match this increase in participation with an increase in student financial assistance. At present, student financial aid for student-athletes is extremely limited. In fact, an average of $20,000 per sport is available for distribution to student-athletes. Reductions in national and state financial aid assistance and the increasing cost of tuition and related fees have caused some high school students to enter a diminishing job force upon high school graduation or begin MCCC on a part-time basis while working hourly jobs that disallow athletic participation. This underscores MCCC's need for a pool of scholarship funds to be distributed solely to student-athletes.
All tax-deductible donations can be allocated to the MCCC Athletic Department Scholarship Program or a specific sport.
