Annual Giving Campaign

  MCCC Annual Giving Campaign
As a public institution, MCCC no longer can rely primarily on funding from the state and county, along with the modest tuition and fees of this community college. In order to keep pace with the ever-increasing costs of maintaining the excellence that has characterized the MCCC educational experience, the college relies on the generosity of donors to close the gap.

Giving to the Mercer County Community College Annual Giving Campaign is a powerful way for alumni, employees, parents, students and friends to directly support academic and student success.

Funds raised through the 2014-2015 Annual Giving Campaign provide essential funding for general college support, student scholarship, and faculty and staff mini-grants. This year, our Annual Giving Campaign objective is to raise funds in support of the following three priorities:

Annual Fund
The Annual Fund consists of unrestricted contributions that are used within the current fiscal year. Unrestricted gifts through the Annual Fund are not earmarked for a specific purpose. The need for unrestricted gifts is critical as it provides the College with the greatest flexibility to respond to immediate unbudgeted pressing needs. Recent Annual Fund allocations include:
  • Underwriting the start-up costs of new academic programs
  • Purchase of new laboratory and computing equipment
  • Providing student scholarship for international travel study tours for students who demonstrate financial need

General Scholarship Fund
The General Scholarship Fund (GSF) provides additional flexible financial resources to help students pay for educational expenses that cannot be covered by need-based grants, student loans, family contributions, and other scholarships. GSF contributions are expended during the current academic year, allowing MCCC to quickly respond to student financial so they can stay in college and achieve their educational goals.

Faculty and Staff Mini-Grants Fund
Since 2009, the Student Learning Improvement Grants (SLIG) aka "Faculty and Staff Mini-Grants" program was funded entirely by the Annual Fund. This year, our donors have an option to direct their gift in support of faculty/staff led projects. The SLIG provides funding for projects that improve teaching and student learning and are proposed by faculty and staff.

Here is a small sampling of SLIG funded projects:
  • Create a science tutoring center
  • Launch an advanced technology system to enable enhanced visual and auditory presentations for students with special perceptual needs
  • Develop a peer tutoring program
  • Establish a reading and writing hybrid class for developmental students
  • Design and equip "smart seminar rooms"

Why Give?

Giving to the Mercer County Community College Annual Giving Campaign is the perfect way to acknowledge MCCC's value to you , and to demonstrate your appreciation for the many ways Mercer continues to contribute to its students and the community. It is paramount that we maintain the ability to finance those things that take us beyond the basics of instruction essential to a "good" college. We are a great place for learning!
