Course Description:

Module 1  focuses on Individual Leadership, the development of participants into a highly functional team and connects individual leadership to current organizational issues and expected leadership from participants. (2-3 days)

    • Determine their own personal profile
    • Learn how to defuse volatile or emotional situations

  • Leading Through Transition
    • Why it is important to understand how change affects the organization – Change is a part of the binding fabric in many organizations. It isn’t something that happens now and then, it is an integral part of the strategy and business plan,
    • Leaders must manage change and its effects on people – Responding to changing markets, the economy and competitors is ongoing and strategies are being adjusted regularly.
  • Team Project Assignments

 

Module 2  focuses on learning about team dynamics including needing individual leadership for building a highly functional team (including their own team) and connects the team to leadership projects contributing to strategic business results. (2 -3 days)

Pre-Work: The Five Dysfunctions of a Team

  • Team Dynamics
    • Appreciate the importance of teamwork in the workplace,
    • Learn a theory about teams and how to make them strong and high-functioning,
    • Develop ways to strengthen and improve group dynamics in their leadership team.

    • What are the gains to an organization that has an engaged workforce? Employees that feel motivated and rewarded are going to give their loyalty and hard work to the organization that supports their strategy and success.

  • How to use your skills as a coach to encourage positive behavior.

 

Module 3  focuses on results of projects that connect leadership to strategic business results and issues of team dynamic encountered along the way. (2.5 days)

Pre-work: Develop a set of goals for your department.

  • Win/Win Negotiation Skills
    • Personal negotiation styles
    • Understanding alternatives and when to walk away from a deal
    • The importance of relationships in negotiations
    • The challenge of transforming competition into cooperation
    • Dealing with emotional and irrational situations
    • Building coalitions and getting around opposing parties
  • SMART Goals
    • Recognize the difference between goals and objectives,
    • Understand the importance of setting objectives to support company/departmental goals,
    • Develop others through goal setting
  • Presentation of team projects (input from management panel)
  • Recap and feedback
