This course develops core technical knowledge and construction methods used in the building industry. Students study key materials - concrete, steel, wood, and masonry - and how they are used in construction. The course also covers blueprint reading and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for interpreting drawings and creating 3D models. In addition, students learn soil mechanics and sitework, including site layout, excavation, and foundation principles to support real-world construction planning and execution.

Students study construction law, including contracts, bidding regulations, lien laws, and contractor responsibilities. The course also covers key business management principles, such as construction accounting, risk management, and the fundamentals of operating a contracting business.

Students learn to manage key project documentation, including Requests for information (RFIs), change orders, and daily progress reports, to support clear and organized communication throughout a project.
