This course develops core technical knowledge and construction methods used in the building industry. Students study key materials - concrete, steel, wood, and masonry - and how they are used in construction. The course also covers blueprint reading and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for interpreting drawings and creating 3D models. In addition, students learn soil mechanics and sitework, including site layout, excavation, and foundation principles to support real-world construction planning and execution.

This course develops key management and business skills for construction project delivery. Students learn planning and scheduling using Microsoft Project and Primavera P6, including Critical Path Method (CPM) techniques to manage timelines and workflows. The course also covers estimating and cost control, including materials, labor, and equipment for budgeting and bidding. In addition, students study safety management and OSHA standards to promote job site safety and reduce risk.

This course introduces students to the legal and financial aspects of the construction industry, supporting responsible project management. Students study construction law, including contracts, bidding regulations, lien laws, and contractor responsibilities. The course also covers key business management principles, such as construction accounting, risk management, and the fundamentals of operating a contracting business.
