Designed for both newcomers and professionals - including tradespeople, realtors, appraisers, and homeowners - this 30-hour, instructor-led course provides a foundational understanding of how home systems interact to influence energy efficiency, indoor air quality, comfort, health, and safety.

You’ll explore the connections between the building envelope, insulation, HVAC systems, lighting, appliances, and ventilation, and learn how these systems contribute to a durable, high-performing, and sustainable home. Emphasizing energy audits, retrofitting, and renewable energy integration, the course delivers essential industry knowledge and is your first step towards the Building Performance Institute’s (BPI) advanced certifications.

By the end of the course, you'll be ready to take the 100-question online exam for the nationally recognized BPI Building Science Principles Certificate of Knowledge, opening doors to careers in energy auditing, weatherization, smart building technologies, and facilities management.
