Introduction to Computer Numerical Controlled Machining (CNC)

his 12-week course provides a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to   CNC machining, preparing students for entry-level careers as CNC machine operators, with a strong foundation for future advancement into programming and setup roles.

Through real-world projects, students will gain practical skills in G & M code programming, CNC mill and lathe operation, and CAD/CAM processes using Fusion 360. No prior experience required!   Potentially earn upto two (2) Mercer college credits  while learning all you need to be qualified to begin your CNC Maching Career as a CNC Machine operator with a headstart to Programmer/Setup Person!

What You’ll Learn:

  • Fundamentals of G & M code programming
  • Basics of 3D CAD/CAM and post-processing
  • Operation of CNC mills (HAAS TM1P) and CNC lathes (HAAS ST10)
  • Workholding, setup procedures, and tooling
  • Materials, speeds and feeds, and cutting strategies
  • Machine safety and basic equipment maintenance

HAAS CNC Operator Certification for Milling

This intensive 8-week course is designed to prepare students for   HAAS CNC Mill Operator Certification, combining hands-on machine training with online coursework provided by HAAS. Ideal for individuals seeking to validate their skills and enhance job prospects in CNC machining and manufacturing.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Operation and setup of   HAAS CNC milling machines
  • Completion of official   HAAS online certification modules  (to be done outside of class)
  • Hands-on practice and exam preparation using the CNC mill in our lab
  • Industry standards for tooling, safety, workholding, and machine controls

Certification Requirements:
To earn certification, students must:

  1. Complete all required   HAAS online courses
  2. Pass the   HAAS hands-on certification exam  administered on-site at MCCC by a certified HAAS representative
