About MercerOnline
Michael Sullivan, M.Ed.
Director
Michael earned his Master’s degree in Education, with a specialization in Instructional Design from the University of Massachusetts, Boston and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
As Director, Michael supervises new initiatives, investigates new instructional and course authoring technologies, assesses support strategies, and assists with MercerOnline faculty, students, and staff. Outside of Mercer, Mike is a huge Star Wars fan and loves spending time with his family. Mike was also the recipient of the 2014 University of Massachusetts – Boston, Book Award (The highest achievement within the University’s Instructional Design Department).
Rodney Hargis
Analyst
Born in a small southern town on the outskirts of a smaller southern town, Rodney and his weird southern drawl appeared on the MCCC campus in January 2007 as a student and was hired as a student worker by the Virtual Campus. After graduating with honors, he was hired as Analyst with MercerOnline.
Rodney was instrumental in the migration from ANGEL to Blackboard, is very active in the Blackboard administrators and instructional technology community and has been occasionally freed from his pod to present at regional and national conferences.
When he’s not freaking out about data integrity, ASR queries, Blackboard SIS integration protocols and similar nonsense, Rodney is an amateur ethnomusicologist with a concentration in pre-depression era folk and blues recordings, and a singer/songwriter (much to the annoyance of anyone within earshot).
Jill Marcus
Coordinator II
Jill earned her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA. As Coordinator for MercerOnline, Jill manages day-to-day operations of the office and assists students, faculty and staff with any concerns they may have with their online class or the LMS. In a previous life, Jill sold specialty chemicals for The Rohm and Haas Company, Philadelphia, PA. After retiring from that life, she decided to give higher education a try and has never looked back. Jill enjoys spending time with her family and friends and traveling.
Alexandra Salas, Ph.D.
Instructional Designer
Alexandra earned her doctorate in Education, with a specialization in education technology from Walden University. Academic credentials also include a Master’s in Political Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and French Studies. As instructional designer, she facilitates ed tech training and works with faculty to assist them with course development and design.

Noel Quiles
Analyst
Noel is a developer of many things, but focuses on frontend development for the web. His credentials include an Associate's in Digital Media Arts from MCCC, and a Bachelor's in Interactive Multimedia from The College of New Jersey.
At MCCC Noel handles student support, faculty assistance in using Blackboard, and helps maintain MercerOnline's web-facing presence, including the creation of this very site! Elsewhere Noel does freelance web development, designs video games (he tends to play them more than design...), writes prose and poetry, and spends what time he has left with loved ones.
