The Security Industry Association (SIA) and Mercer have entered into a partnership that has resulted in a new
academic program – the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Security Systems Technologies – that combines
logical security-related courses with newly developed physical security courses.
Developed in cooperation with the Security Industry Association (SIA), this program prepares students for jobs
that support the selling, installation, management, and technical support of physical security systems technologies
in an IP-based networked environment.
The program requires four semesters of college-level and core courses. While classroom learning is important,
this program also provides students with added value through practical, hands-on experiences. SIA is helping
build two labs – one focused on access control, the other on video surveillance. The labs are part of the required
coursework
