Sigma Phi Sigma

Sigma Phi Sigma Advisor: Professor Geralda Aldajuste

 

Sigma Phi Sigma represents the MCCC Mortuary Science Students.  They strive to honor the esteemed tradition of this organization, as well as be active in the community through donations, fundraisers, and / or volunteer activities.

Membership: Membership is open to only students majoring in Funeral Service Education.

When elections take place: New officers are elected every Fall semester in September. 

Why be involved in Sigma Phi Sigma?  

  • To promote professionalism by providing opportunities for the development of leadership and climates for exchange of professional concepts, ethics and ideals. 
  • Educate the public concerning the funeral profession and increase the public's appreciation of the profession by advocating participation in community service projects. 
  • Encourage fellowship between students, faculty and business entities. 
  • Aid students in their academic endeavors through educational opportunities, speakers or other tools with the goal of exceeding National and/or State Board Examination standards. 

President: presides over all meetings, and shall be responsible for supervising all activities of the club 

Vice-President: shall assume the President's responsibilities in his/her absence, and assist the President in the performance of all club functions 

Secretary: shall record minutes of each meeting and be responsible for all correspondence of the club 

Treasurer: shall oversee and keep accurate records of all expenditures and receipts of club funds 

All officers will be given a student organization manual, and other pertinent forms required to maintain Sigma Phi Sigma. 

*STUDENTS NOT ELECTED AS OFFICERS ARE BY DEFAULT MEMBERS OF SIGMA PHI SIGMA!!
