Manual Machining certification prepares for work in the metal manufacturing industry. Students learn to make metal parts using the drill press, manual milling machine, and manual lath. Students also learn to read manufacturing blueprints, interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols, and create blueprints using AutoCAD.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
  • Learn to operate manufacturing equipment safely and earn OSHA 10;
  • Interpret blueprints to manufacture parts;
  • Apply shop and tool room mathematics as needed;
  • Complete part inspection using appropriate instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and scales;
  • Set up and operate a manual drill press, lathe, milling machine;
  • Prepare for The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certification.
