4/29/19

WEST WINDSOR – Spring is in the air, and so is the music of the season at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), with a series of three free concerts by the MCCC chamber ensemble, chorus and jazz band.

The MCCC Chamber Ensemble will perform on Monday, May 6, with the MCCC Chorus performing on Tuesday, May 7, followed by the Jazz Band on Wednesday, May 8. All three performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Kelsey Theatre on Mercer’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Under the direction of Jean Mauro, the MCCC Chamber Ensemble will present a varied program highlighting the works of popular composers. The following night the MCCC Chorus, directed by Timothy Smith, presents “Of Things Sacred and Beautiful,” with works celebrating the coming of spring by composers Felix Mendelssohn, W.A. Mozart, and John Rutter, among many others.

Wednesday’s performance by the MCCC Jazz Band, directed by Music Department Coordinator Scott Hornick, features works by Sonny Rollins, Johnny Mercer, Paul Simon, Marvin Gaye, and more. Mercer County’s up-and-coming jazz students and vocalists perform this wide variety of musical genres.

All three concerts are free and open to the public. Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible and free parking is available next to the theater. For more information, contact the Music Department at (609) 570-3735.
