Romantic Musical Comedy ‘Crazy for You’ Comes to MCCC’s Kelsey Theatre July 12 to 21

6/19/19

West Windsor, N.J. – The quintessential American musical is coming to Mercer County Community College’s (MCCC’s) Kelsey Theatre this summer.  “Crazy for You,” a 1992 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, will be presented by M&M Stage Productions Fridays, July 12 and 19 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, July 13 and 20 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, July 14 and 21 at 2 p.m.

Kelsey Theatre is located on MCCC’s West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. The community is invited to an opening night reception with the cast and crew on July 12.

A high-energy romp by Ken Ludwig, “Crazy for You” includes all the irresistible elements of a romantic musical comedy – plot twists, physical farce and mistaken identities. Adapted from the 1930 hit "Girl Crazy” with lyrics and music by George and Ira Gershwin, the show is packed with classic tunes like "I’ve Got Rhythm" and "Embraceable You," plus toe-tapping dance numbers. It tells the story of Bobby Childs, the son of a rich banking family, who is being pushed into the family business even though he would rather be in show business. When his mother sends him to foreclose on a rundown theater in a Nevada mining town, Bobby’s life takes a welcome turn as he meets Polly, the girl of his dreams. Together they stage a show to save the struggling theater.

The cast stars Alexander Nathan of Florence as Bobby Child and Laura Orlando of Hamilton as Polly Baker. The supporting cast features Thomas Coppolecchia of Hamilton as Bela Zangler, Allison Reed of Yardville as Tess, Matthew Cassidy of Morrisville, Pa., as Everett Baker, Chris Boerner of East Windsor as Lank Hawkins, Annie Bryson of Lawrence as Irene Roth, Marti Wynne of Clementon as Patsy, Liz Wurtz of Levittown, Pa., as Lottie Child, Tom Bessellieu of Lawrence as Eugene Fodor, and Gina Migliaccio of Hamilton as Patricia Fodor.

The ensemble includes Robbie Angarone of Hamilton, Zachary Benedetti of Ewing, Reise Bridgers of Hamilton, Nicholas Eldridge of Hamilton, Anna Forebaugh of Haddonfield, Laura Ghaffoor of Hamilton, Michael Hall of Yardley, Pa., Nicholas Kianka of Hamilton, Gavin Knox of Pemberton, Allison Matthews of Browns Mills, Isabella Mayo of Bordentown, Dan Mucha of Hamilton, Isabella Papaccio of Hamilton, Sarah Reynolds of Swedesboro, Reva Sangal of West Windsor, and Josh Witzling of Flemington.

The production team includes Producers Mike Almstedt and Mike DiIorio, Director Mike DiIorio, Musical Director Pam Sharples, Choreographer Laura Ghaffoor, Lighting Designer Chris Ghaffoor, Sound Designer Evan Payne, and Costumer Louisa Murey.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $16 for students/children and may be purchased online or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333.
