MCCC
Groups Give Generously To Those in Need at
Thanksgiving
11/23/11
West
Windsor, N.J. - The spirit of giving overflowed at Mercer
County Community College this Thanksgiving season. The MCCC
chapter of the American Association of Women in Community
Colleges (AAWCC), the Student Government Association (SGA)
and Upward Bound Parents Association spearheaded several outreach
efforts to benefit those in need, including MCCC students
and members of the community.
A food
drive by AAWCC and SGA provided 10 Thanksgiving
meals that included non-perishable food items and $25 gift
certificates to redeem turkeys to MCCC students. Additional
food items were donated to patrons of HomeFront.
The
Upward Bound Parent Association on the Kerney Campus invited
community members to join in its food drive to provide Thanksgiving
baskets to needy families throughout Mercer County. The generosity
of participants made it possible to serve 53 families this
year, surpassing last year's total of 42.
