Kitty Getlik reports that Kelsey Theatre productions from the 2007-08
season were nominated for a total of 21 Perry Awards, a recognition
program of the New Jersey Association of Community Theatres (NJACT).
Two productions, "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Singin'
in the Rain," were showered with 17 nominations between
them. Both shows were presented by Maurer Productions OnStage, a
company under the creative direction of MCCC alumnus John Maurer
('84), Diana Gilman Maurer and Dan Maurer. Representatives from
NJACT reviewed almost 500 plays around the state during the season.
"Driving
Miss Daisy" received the following nominations in the Play
category: Allwyn L. Baskin for Outstanding Play Lead Actor; Eve
Connolly for Outstanding Play Lead Actress; M. Kitty Getlik for
Outstanding Lighting Design; Dan Maurer for Outstanding Sound Design;
Diana Maurer for Outstanding Costuming; Alycia Bauch-Cantor for
Outstanding Properties; John Maurer and Amy Foris for Outstanding
Scenic Design; Dan Maurer for Outstanding Direction; and John and
Diana Maurer and Dan Maurer for Outstanding Production.
"Singin'
in the Rain" received the following nominations in the Musical
category: Jim Petro for Outstanding Lead Actor; Nicole Farina-Machin
for Outstanding Lead Actress; Vicky Czarnik for Outstanding Featured
Actress; Ray Murphy for Outstanding Ensemble Actor; Jane Coult for
Outstanding Choreography; John Maurer for Outstanding Scenic Design;
John Maurer for Outstanding Direction; and John and Diana Maurer
and Dan Maurer for Outstanding Production.
Other nominations
included Melissa Rittmann for Outstanding Featured Actress and Ruth
Rittman for Outstanding Costuming in Pierrot Productions' "3
Penny Opera;" and Ruth Rittman for Outstanding Costuming in
The Yardley Players' "Clue." In the Outstanding Original
Production/Play category, MCCC student Kyrus Westcott was nominated
for "NKD Sex. Lies. Life," presented by K2 Entertainment.
Awards will
