Professor
Emeritus Awarded for Service as
Director of County Holocaust Center
6/17/10
West
Windsor, N.J. - On June 13 Saul Goldwasser, professor emeritus
at Mercer County Community College, was recognized for his good
works. He was presented with the Honey and Maurice Axelrod Award,
given annually in cooperation with the New Jersey Commission
on Holocaust Education, the Anti-Defamation League of New Jersey
and the Axelrod Family. Goldwasser is director of the Mercer
County Holocaust/Genocide Resource Center, located on the college's
West Windsor campus. He was nominated by an MCCC colleague,
Professor Emerita, Dr. Vera Goodkin, who is also active in Holocaust
education.
Goldwasser
has served as the director of the center since its founding
in 2003. Its mission is to provide support to educators, local
organizations and the community at large in teaching the concepts
and lessons of the Holocaust and other genocides.
"I
am always deeply affected when I see a young person's reaction
as they learn what occurred during the Holocaust, later in
Rwanda, and continuing into Darfur. I can only hope it changes
their lives as much as these events have changed mine,"
Goldwasser said.
