West Windsor,
N.J. - Calling local artists! The Gallery at Mercer County
Community College invites individuals 18 or older who live,
work, or attend school in Mercer County, N.J., to submit their
artwork to be considered for "Mercer County Artists
2011," a juried exhibition. Artists may enter up
to two original works in any media except photography. (The
county hosts a separate Mercer County photography exhibit).
Tricia Fagan is the director and curator for the MCCC Gallery.
Jurying will take place on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the MCCC Gallery.
Artwork should be dropped off between 9:30 a.m. and noon.
Work not accepted for the exhibit must be picked up that afternoon
between 3:30 and 5 p.m.The Gallery is located on the second
floor of MCCC's Communications Building on the West
Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Juror for the exhibit is Janet Marsh Hunt, owner and director
of the popular Coryell Gallery in Lambertville. Hunt has been
a key member of the arts community of central New Jersey for
decades. Among her many volunteer activities on behalf of
the visual arts, she has been part of the organizing committee
for the prestigious Phillips Mill annual art show since
the early 1970s. She is descended from a long line of artists
including her parents, who are among the founders of the Hunterdon
Art Museum in Clinton. "Ms. Hunt carries on a remarkable
family legacy," says Fagan.
An array
of purchase and merit prizes will be awarded, among them the
Utrecht Art Supplies Best in Show prize and the Ninth Annual
West Windsor Arts Council Prize for outstanding work by a
West Windsor artist. Awards will be announced during the show's
Opening Reception, which will be held on Wednesday, March
9 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The show will be on display through
April 7. Artwork that receives Purchase Awards from the Mercer
County Cultural and Heritage Commission will become part of
the county's permanent art collection.

The exhibition is co-sponsored and supported by a grant from
the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission, with funding
from the New Jersey State Council of the Arts/Department of
State, a partner of the National Endowment for the Arts.
