Mercer County Fire Academy Graduates 21

West Windsor, N.J. – On Nov. 25, the Mercer County Fire Academy, which is directed by Mercer County Community College (MCCC) at Dempster Fire Training Center, celebrated the graduation of 21 firefighters.

According to James McCann, director of the Fire Academy, the group completed the 180-hour New Jersey Firefighter 1 training program and passed the New Jersey Firefighter 1 exam to become State-certified firefighters.

During the ceremony, Hightstown Engine Co. # 1 Color Guard presented the country's colors and the Hamilton Professional Firefighters Pipe & Drum Band performed.

“The program is rigorous, both academically and physically," McCann said. "Those who successfully complete it demonstrate a high level of skill and commitment. It's very satisfying to know that these dedicated professionals will serve on the front lines with their local fire companies in protecting their communities."

The class drew students from 11 fire companies around the region, including Colonial Fire Co., DeCou Fire Co., East Windsor Fire Co. #1, Hamilton Fire Co., Lawrence Road Fire Co., Mercerville Fire Co., Nottingham Fire Co., Pennington Fire Co., Princeton Fire Dept., Princeton Junction Fire Co., and White Horse Fire Co.
