Windsor, N.J. -There's always something new to learn and taste
at MCCC's Culinary Center. This summer Chefs Bill Conrad,
Wendy Jaeger, Benson Yu, Rita Bohlumbohm, and wine educator
Bruce Smith will present hands-on courses featuring fresh
ingredients, international cuisine and wines of the world.
Presented through the MCCC Center for Continuing Studies,
classes are held weekends and evenings on West
Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
Bruce Smith continues his wine series on Wednesday evenings,
starting off with "Wines from Central Valley, California"
on June 1, followed by "Wines of Mendocine County,
California" on June 8; "Wines from Oregon"
on June 15; "Wines of Washington State" on
June 22; "International Comparison of Rieslings"
on June 29; "Wines of Louis Latour" on July
13; "A Taste of Pinot Gris" on July 20; and
"Lighter Style Red Wines for Summer" on July
27. Participants register for courses on an individual basis
and must be 21
or older.
Chef Conrad returns with his popular "Knife Skills"
how-to class on July 8 and repeated on August 12. Also back
is "Playing with Pasta" on July 15. (Instructor
to be announced.)
Two new classes feature international cuisine. Chef Yu will
teach the basics of traditional Chinese cooking, as well as
provide cultural insights, in "China!" on
July 22, with dishes to include General Chang Chicken, Hot
and Sour Soup, and Lo Mein. Chef Jaeger follows on July 29
with "Provençal Market Meals" in a
class that combines Jersey fresh produce with Provencal recipes
such as tapenades, herb-encrusted poultry, and ratatouille.
Cooking enthusiasts with an artistic bent will enjoy another
new offering, "Cake Decorating with Flair!"
with Chef Bohlumbohm on August 5.
