West Windsor, N.J. – During the fall and spring semesters, the Mercer County Community College Office of Transfer Services led four transfer trips designed to broaden the horizons of MCCC students planning to transfer after earning their associate degrees. The destination schools included Rutgers, New York University, University of Delaware and Drexel.
According to Transfer Counseling Specialist Jennifer Cook, approximately 25 students went on each trip, with some signing on for all four.
During each visit, students learned about admissions procedures and financial aid, took a campus tour, and had lunch in a college dining hall so that they could get a fuller picture of campus life at the school.
Cook said the feedback was all positive. “Students indicated that the visits were extremely valuable and motivating. The majority said that the trips encouraged them to get more involved in campus activities at Mercer, to improve or maintain their GPAs, and to earn their associate degrees,” Cook said.
Funding for the college visits was made possible through Foundation Innovation Grants.
