MCCC Students' Artwork Part of Exhibition at Trenton Artworks Gallery

West Windsor, N.J. - Three art students from Mercer County Community College (MCCC) will be among nearly fifty area students participating in the Capital City College and University Art Exhibition, on view March 20 through April 24 at the Artworks Gallery, 19 Everett Alley in Trenton. The show is presented by The Trenton Artists Workshop Association (TAWA) and Artworks. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 4 to 6 pm.

In addition to Mercer students, the exhibit will showcase student work from The College of New Jersey, Rider University, and the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Participating MCCC students include Melissa Rivers, Ian Murphy and Lauren Rotash. The show is designed to highlight the work of emerging and young regional visual artists, as well as the key centers of art instruction in the Central New Jersey region. It also provides an opportunity for young artists to meet, share ideas, and explore new opportunities in the state's capital city.

The exhibition is being coordinated by TAWA members and artists Katie Hector and Aubrey Kauffman. Hector is a student at the Mason Gross School and a past recipient of a TAWA scholarship award. Kauffman, an established photographer and video journalist, is in the graduate program at Mason Gross, and is former president of TAWA.

The Artworks gallery is open Tuesdays, noon to 8 p.m., Thursdays, 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call Artworks at 609-394-9436, or visit the website here.

The Trenton Area Artists Workshop Association is supported in part by the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission through funding from the Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
