Mercer County
Community College Offers Basic Skills
Training for Employees at No Charge to Companies
10/29/10
West Windsor, N.J. -- Mercer County Community
College's Center for Training and Development is again offering
free classes for employed adults who want to improve their skills.
Courses include basic math and measurements, verbal skills, writing
skills, customer service, Word (2007 and 2003), Excel (2007 and
2003), Outlook, Introduction to Email, and English as a Second Language
(I and II).
Those seeking training may take courses as
a group through their employer or individually with proof of employment.
For employee groups of 10 or more, courses will be set up exclusively
for them and offered at their work site. For groups of fewer than
ten, participants from several companies will be combined into classes
offered on Mercer's West
Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.
The training is offered at no charge to employers,
thanks to the fourth year of the New Jersey Business and Industry
Association's (NJBIA) Basic Skills Training Program, a partnership
between the State of New Jersey, the New Jersey Community College
Consortium, and the NJBIA. The program is made possible through
a grant from the NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
Training is provided by the state's 19 community
colleges at numerous locations. The
program does not require complicated paperwork or financial disclosures.
Employers must pay their employees their regular wages while they
are in training.
Businesses or individuals interested in participating
should contact Michael Glass, MCCC director of statewide training,
at 609-570-3530, or via e-mail to CTD@mccc.edu.
