Men's and Women's Basketball Teams Head for Play-offs

Mercer's men's and women's basketball teams are heading for the play-offs as the recently crowned Garden State Athletic Conference champs. The NJCAA Region 19 Basketball Tournament will be held this week and the Vikings are aiming for Region 19 championships.

With a regular season record of 18-11, Coach Mike Tenaglia’s Lady Vikes have earned the #2 seed and will host #7-seeded Union County College at home on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. With a victory, the Lady Vikes, who are winners of six of the last seven regional titles, will advance to the semi-final round to be held at Salem Community College on Thursday, March 3. Undefeated Harcum College is the #1 seed. The Region 19 champion advances to the Northeast District tournament against the winners from Region 21.

The Mercer men, with a record of 18-12 under Head Coach Kelly Williams, are the #3 seed and will face #2-seeded Delaware Tech on Friday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m.at Salem Community College in the semi-final round. Lackawanna College, as the #1 seed, will face the winner of a first round game between #4-seeded Ocean County College and #5-seeded Essex County College in the other semi-final. The Region 19 winner advances to the Northeast District tournament against the Region 15 and 21 champions.
