Unit 1 - Introduction

Greetings! Welcome to the Physical Therapy Assistant Information Literacy/Library Tutorial. This tutorial will introduce you the online resources available to you from the MCCC Library with an emphasis on locating information in the field of physical therapy. After completing this tutorial you will also be able to locate both research ans case study articles in peer reviewed/scholarly journals using the library's databases

 

In this tutorial, we will cover::

- Popular, trade, and peer reviewed/scholarly journals: Three types of periodicals for three different audiences

- Added computer search techniques to become more effective information searchers

- The MCCC Library's databases

- How to access the MCCC Library databases

- Which databases are best suited for locating Physical Therapy information.

- Locating specifically research articles and case study articles in peer reviewed/scholarly journals

The Task at Hand

 

After completing this tutorial you will be asked to:

  • Locate an article form an MCCC Library database which needs to be:
    • from a peer reviewed/scholarly journal in the field of physical therapy.
    • either a research article or a case study.
    • no more than five (5) years old.
    • relevant to one of the topics assigned by your professor.
  • Obtain the citation for the article in the PTA Program approved style format (APA format).
  • Submit/show your professor both the article and it's citation for the article you have selected.
