TRENTON, NJ – The Mercer County Community College (MCCC) Fashion Merchandising and Design Program will hit the stage Nov. 4 at the college’s James Kerney Campus in Trenton, with a series of workshops ranging from the creative to the practical during 2023 Fall Fashion Fest.

Fall Fashion Fest, sponsored by the MCCC Fashion Merchandising and Design Program and the college fashion club, The Fashion Spot, runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Trenton Hall, 137 North Broad Street in Trenton on MCCC’s James Kerney Campus. The program features a variety of fashion-related sessions, including creative-oriented workshops on color theory, style, and accessorizing; hands-on sessions addressing quick repairs, jewelry making, and knitting; and leadership insight on dressing for success, leadership, and “the power pitch.”

Katina “Professor Kay” Lindsay, MCCC Fashion Merchandising and Design Program Coordinator, described Fall Fashion Fest as “an engaging and interactive experience tailored for fashion-curious middle school, high school, and community members,” and that the goal is to “introduce prospective students to the exciting world of fashion and showcase the diverse opportunities within the fashion industry.” The three-hour event, she said, includes informative workshops, immersive experiences, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the MCCC fashion program.

“Our responsibility isn't just to prepare the next generation for the workplace; it's to actively engage in shaping a workplace that is more inclusive, innovative, and supportive,” Lindsay said. “We do this one stitch at a time, leaving no one behind.”
