Bonner Leader Alexandra Hanly
Earns Full Bonner Scholarship to The College of New Jersey

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Alexandra Hanly of Hightstown, a May 2009 graduate of Mercer County Community College (MCCC), and a New Jersey AmeriCorps Bonner Leader, has been awarded a full academic year scholarship to The College of New Jersey from the Bonner Scholar Program.

While at MCCC, Hanly gave 300 hours of service through the Bonner program. She mentored and tutored students with cognitive handicaps in the DREAM program, and participated in training and development activities and service days. She worked on the Plainsboro river cleanup, for a clothing exchange at Bethany Church in Trenton, and this summer was as a paid intern at the Bonner Foundation, working as executive assistant to the president. She will continue in the Bonner program at The College of New Jersey while pursuing a degree in psychology.

The mission of the Bonner Scholars and Bonner Leaders Programs is to transform the lives of students and members, the life of their campuses, their local communities, and the world through service and leadership. The Bonner Program is designed to heighten the overall education students and members receive by asking them to engage in ongoing service work and helping them develop the experience, skills, knowledge and values necessary to make that work meaningful and lasting.
