Bonner Leader Alexandra Hanly
Earns Full Bonner Scholarship to The College of New Jersey

WINDSOR, N.J. -- Alexandra Hanly of Hightstown, a May 2009 graduate
of Mercer County Community College (MCCC), and a New Jersey AmeriCorps
Bonner Leader, has been awarded a full academic year scholarship
to The College of New Jersey from the Bonner Scholar Program.
While
at MCCC, Hanly gave 300 hours of service through the Bonner program.
She mentored and tutored students with cognitive handicaps in the
DREAM program, and participated in training and development activities
and service days. She worked on the Plainsboro river cleanup, for
a clothing exchange at Bethany Church in Trenton, and this summer
was as a paid intern at the Bonner Foundation, working as executive
assistant to the president. She will continue in the Bonner program
at The College of New Jersey while pursuing a degree in psychology.

The
mission of the Bonner Scholars and Bonner Leaders Programs is to transform
the lives of students and members, the life of their campuses, their local
communities, and the world through service and leadership. The Bonner
Program is designed to heighten the overall education students and members
receive by asking them to engage in ongoing service work and helping them
develop the experience, skills, knowledge and values necessary to make
that work meaningful and lasting.
