Hindi Class Offered This Fall
at Mercer County Community College

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Beginning this fall , Hindi will be the newest foreign language class offered at Mercer County Community College, joining a long list of language offerings including Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, and Polish, along with Spanish, French and Italian. Most fall semester classes begin Aug. 31.

According to Mercer's Dean of Liberal Arts Robin Schore, "We are aware of the huge impact that India has on the economy, and we have a large Indian population in this area. Often the children of immigrants speak the language but don't necessarily read and write it well."

Schore says that while some traditional European language classes remain popular, especially Spanish, the college has seen a great deal of interest in its Japanese and Polish classes recently, and Arabic classes continue to attract students. "I think our students are aware of a changing global economy, and many are preparing for careers that will involve a global focus," he said.

Mercer's Hindi course will meet Aug. 31 through Dec. 16 from 2:50 to 4:05 p.m. at the college's West Windsor Campus. For more information call Enrollment Services at 609-570-3795.
