West
Windsor, N.J. - Wine novices and enthusiasts can experience a bit
of wine country without a trek to the vineyard this summer. Mercer
County Community College's Center for Continuing Studies will offer
a series of four classes called "Wine Regions of the World"
at the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. All
four sessions will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and each will conclude
with tasting of regional wines.
Local wine educator Bruce Smith will lead the discussion, opening
July 1 with "International Comparison of Rieslings." In
this class and subsequent sessions, the differences in styles and
characteristics, the varied geographical regions, and winemaking
techniques will be featured.
Shifting focus to the wine regions of Italy, Smith will share his
expertise July 8 with a class called "Central and Tuscany,"
and July 15 with "Umbria, Marche, Lazio and Abruzzo."
The series concludes July 22 with a look at the wines of "Southern
Italy and Sicily."
Participants
must be at least 21 years of age, and be prepared to show their
