Trenton Young Adults Invited to Youth Empowerment Summit May 18 and 19
West Windsor, NJ: Young adults ages 16 through 25 are invited to participate in a Youth Empowerment Summit at the James Kerney Campus of Mercer County Community College (MCCC) on Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19. The campus is located at located at 102 North Broad Street in Trenton. Friday’s event includes dinner, and Saturday’s event includes breakfast and lunch.
The summit is co-hosted by NIA Neighborhood Improvement and Youth College of MCCC, and was organized to provide an opportunity to expose area young adults to essential information about life skills, employability and how spirituality comes into play, according to Youth College Director Don Davis. In addition to the public, students in MCCC’s Youth College will be participating.
Workshops on both days include a historical perspective, career information, character development, self-discipline, and tools for success. UIH Family Partners will give a presentation on parenting skills for those who are parents. Saturday sessions include workshops on money and careers in green jobs, contracting and medical care, a poetry slam, and a workshop on expungement and engaging with law enforcement.
Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and 8:45 a.m. on Saturday. Those who participate in both sessions will be eligible for cash drawings of $200 for those in the 16 to 20 year age group, and $300 for those in the 21-25 age group.
