WEST WINDSOR,
N.J. -- The Mercer County Community College Chorus and Jazz Band,
and the Mercer County Community Band, invite the public to their
winter concerts at Kelsey Theatre, on the college's West Windsor
Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Admission is free.
The MCCC
Chorus, made up of college students and singers from the community,
will perform "GLORIA!!" on Tuesday, Dec, 12, at 8 p.m.
Conducted by Professor Marjorie Herman, D.M., the performance will
feature a varied mix of sacred selections alternating with lighter
fare. Included are Glorias by Mozart and Ailor. Also on the program
is the newly formed student group, the Mercer Chamber Choir, under
the direction of student Elizabeth Boyle.
The MCCC
Jazz Band will perform on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m., and
is directed by Professor James Kelly. A varied and exciting program
will include jazz classics such as Miles Davis' Milestones
and John Coltrane's signature Blue Trane, as well as
standards form the Great American Songbook including Have You
Met Miss Jones and Willow Weep for Me.
The jazz performance
will also include Professor Kelly's own arrangement of the Horace
Silver classic, Nica's Dream. All selections will feature
standout improvisations by college jazz students. "We warmly
invite all to join us for this celebration of America's classic
musical art form," Kelly said.
The Mercer
County Community Band is hosting a free Winter Concert on Wednesday
evening, Dec. 20 at 8 p.m, under the direction of Professor Lou
Woodruff. The band is made up of community members as well as MCCC
faculty and staff.
