Basic Skills Training Classes Offered for Local Businesses and Non-Profits at No Charge


WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- Mercer County Community College, in partnership with the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) and the New Jersey Community College Consortium, is offering courses, free of charge, to large and small companies and non-profit organizations as part of a $1.88 million grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. This opportunity ends June 30, 2008.

Employees can receive basic skills training in English as a Second Language, communications (verbal and written) and basic math and measurement skills. There is no charge for taking these classes and minimal paperwork is required to register. However, employees who participate must be paid at their usual hourly rate during the training sessions.

Classes are held at Mercer County Community College's West Windsor campus or at a client site if the company has at least ten employees to enroll. Mercer County Community College, along with its partners, believes that a well-trained and highly skilled workforce is the key to New Jersey's future economic growth.
