
Mercer County Community College Television Students Win “Communicator
Award” for Live News Show

Television students at Mercer County Community College won an honorable
mention from the prestigious “Communicator Awards” for
a live news show, “MCN Live.” Holding the award are,
from left, MCCC Teaching Assistant Valarie Daniels, students Joshua
Miller, Read Langan, Jennifer Joyce and Wilmar Luna, and faculty
advisor Steve Voorhees.
About 13 students
work on each live show, produced twice weekly and broadcast on MCCC’s
cable channel 23/26. The shows include news about the college, the
community and nation, sports and weather. The winning entry was
produced by Jennifer Joyce and directed by Wilmar Luna.
An international
competition honoring excellence in communication, the “Communicator
Awards” are open to all companies, organizations, governmental
agencies or individuals involved in visual communications. This
award was for technical and journalistic integrity in a news broadcast
category.
