Mercer Successes Highlighted at Dec. 5 Event
The vitality and energy of Mercer's students, staff and faculty were shining brightly on Dec. 5, when the Board of Trustees hosted a community event, "Creating the Future, Celebrating Success." Students showcased chemistry experiments, landscape designs, live dance, music and theatre, ceramics and photography, just to name a few of their creative exhibits. The special event honored three community partners: Ewing Superintendent Ray Broach, Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton, and The McGraw Hill Companies.

Two Renovated Nursing Labs Reopened
On Nov. 20 the college celebrated and cut ribbons to reopen two renovated and newly-equipped Nursing laboratories in the Math/Science building. The renovations were made possible by two generous donors, former Chair of Nursing and Allied Health HelenMarie Dolton, and Johnson & Johnson through its "Campaign for Nursing's Future."

TV Students Host Telethon for Mercer Street Friends
Mercer's Television program hosted a telethon on Dec. 14 for Mercer Street Friends, a local Trenton charitable organization. Students, faculty and staff members produced a five-hour live broacdast, which included videos made by students for the organization as part of their class assignment. Students staffed a phone bank and took incoming pledges from viewers.

Students Design Landscaping for Drumthwacket
Ornamental Horticulture students in a "Landscaping and Planning" class have completed landscape designs for the New Jersey governor's mansion, Drumthwacket. The class formed three groups that completed designs for three areas of the grounds. They presented their designs to officials at Drumthwacket recently. Photos here.

WWFM's "Views and Voices" Features Staff/Faculty
"Views and Voices," a new program that airs on WWFM, will keep listeners informed about events and issues at MCCC and the wider broadcast region. Produced by Rachel Katz, the half-hour community affairs show features short interviews with MCCC staff and faculty. It can be heard Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. on WWFM -- The Classical Network, at 89.1 FM.

MCCC Receives Matching Grant
The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation of Princeton has awarded a $50,000 challenge grant to MCCC's Foundation for programs in the health professions, including Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography and Laboratory Technology. The college's challenge is to match the grant through donations from interested individuals and organizations. Free Training Available for Businesses
Area businesses and nonprofit organizations both large and small are eligible to send their employees to basic skills training classes provided by MCCC at the West Windsor campus through the Center for Training and Development. Classes can also be arranged at employment sites when the number of employees to be trained is more than ten. Contact Doreen Blanc at 609-570-3279. Click here for more.

MCCC is "College of the Month" in National Magazine

As a result of the consistent excellence of Mercer's athletic teams, the college was invited to be featured as the "College of the Month" in the December issue of the JUCO Review, the national magazine of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The coverage includes a four-color photo collage on the magazine's cover and a center spread article. See article here.
