West Windsor, N.J. – On April 25, four business students from Mercer County Community College (MCCC) attended the 57th Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony hosted by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA ). They were accompanied by MCCC Associate Professor of Accounting Kenneth Horowitz, a long-time NJCPA member.
The four students, Yunyang Xiao, Ashley Dindinger, Oyungerel Tumendelger, all of whom are majoring in Business Aminisration, and Kai Jelinek, who is pursuing her A.A.S. in Accounting, were recipients of scholarships that will help them continue their education. The awards are part of the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJCPAs) annual scholarship fund, which this year presented $410,000 in scholarships to more than 80 students statewide. The NJCPA Scholarship Fund is among the largest professional scholarship programs in the state.
According to Horowitz, he and Professor of Accounting Josie Mathias encourage students to apply for the scholarships. The NJCPA Scholarship Committee reviews the applications and selects the students they wish to meet with in on-campus interviews and then decide on the winners.
"Over the years, the Mercer County chapter of the NJCPA has been very generous and has distributed multiple scholarships. We are very grateful for their investment in our students," Horowitz said.
Dindinger, Tumendelger and Xiao are graduating from MCCC in May and will use their scholarship awards at their respective four-year institutions. Jelinek returns to MCCC in the fall to continue her studies for her associate degree.
