If you are considering transfer to a business program after completing your Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts at Mercer, any course that fulfills our requirements is helpful. However, as part of exploring your options, here is some additional advice:

  • Take a business-related Diversity elective such as BUS230 (Global Business).
  • Fulfill part of your Social Science requirement with Economics courses.
  • Take both levels of Statistics (MAT 125 and 126).
  • Choose a world language that will be helpful to the career you envision.
  • Consider PHI204 (Ethics) as your Philosophy choice.
  • Choose a business-related course for your program elective.

Most importantly, work with your faculty advisor to review requirements for the business major you are interested in at your next institution; register for courses with optimal transfer potential.

Many graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree in a Liberal Arts field then pursue a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA), which opens several pathways into the business world. The number of CEOs and upper-level managers with a BA in a Liberal Arts discipline is actually greater than the number with any other kind of degree.
