Lincroft, NJ-Mercer softball (36-5) shut out Brookdale CC (12-12) 22-0 in five innings in Game 1 of their doubleheader. Freshman Angelina Guida (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Twp.) was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate with a double, 3 RBIs and 4 runs and sophomore Abby Bell (Hightstown, NJ/Hightstown HS) went 3 for 3 with a home run, 4 runs and 3 RBIs. Freshman Makenna Spak (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs and sophomore Maya Patel (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) had a double and 3 RBIs.
Freshman pitcher Izzy Bonacci (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) allowed no earned runs and struck out five in five innings in her 13th win of the season. Freshmen Madison Jobes (Roebling, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial), Kelci O’Dell (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) and Emily Wyzykowski (Westampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) each added an RBI in the win.
