North East, MD-Mercer softball lost Game 1 of their doubleheader at Cecil College 5-1. Freshman Ammonie Wertz (Ewing, NJ/Mercer County Tech) went 3 for 3 and accounted for half of Mercer’s hits in the game. Sophomore Stella Logan (Trenton, NJ/Allentown HS) had the lone RBI of the game. Sophomore pitcher Jozalyn Sheipe-Warthen (Mount Holly, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had six strikeouts in six innings in the loss.
