West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s soccer (17-0) won their third straight Region 19 Championship, beating Essex 6-1 in the title game. With the win MCCC advances to the Northeast District Championship with the winner heading to the NJCAA Division II National Championship.
Sophomores Daniel Garcia (Madrid, Spain/Zola School) and Javier Hernandez (Madrid, Spain/IES Lazaro Cardenas) each had two goals and an assist in the win. Sophomore Jesse Van Den Berg (Rhoon, Netherlands/Portus Groene Hart) and freshman Emilio Muguruza (Madrid, Spain/GSD Las Rozas) each scored a goal and sophomores Nasim Carpio (Parma, Italy/San Tomasso D'Aquino), Deniz Karcher (Heidenheim, Germany/Max Planck Gymnasium), Adrian Garcia (Madrid, Spain/Zola School) and Riku Yasuda (Ogaki-City, Japan/Chukyo HS) each added an assist in the win.
Mercer next travels to St. Clair CC (15-3) in Port Huron, Michigan for the Northeast District Championship on Friday, November 7th.
