Mercer Dominates Lackawanna in 78-48 Win

Scranton, PA-Mercer men’s basketball moved to 4-2 on the season following a dominating 78-48 win at Lackawanna (2-5).  Sophomore Izaiah Johnson (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.  Sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) added 14 points and 7 rebounds and freshman Darius Bland (Willingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) had 16 points of the bench. 

 

Freshman Calvin Moore (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) had 7 points and sophomore Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) added 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 blocks in the win.  Sophomore Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) pulled down 7 rebounds and had 3 assists and freshman Quincey Manning (Blackwood, NJ/Winslow Twp.) added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.

 

The Vikings next host Del Tech (3-4) on Tuesday, November 28th at 6:00 PM.

 

Big Second Half Helps Mercer Edge Frederick 72-69

Frederick, MD-Mercer men’s basketball moved to 3-2 on the season following a 72-69 win over Frederick Community College (0-1).  The Vikings trailed 19-25 at halftime, but outscored the Cougars 53-44 in the second half to pick up the win. 

 

Mercer was led by 17 points from sophomore Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS).  Sophomore Izaiah Johnson (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.  Sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick HS) scored 11 points and freshman Calvin Moore (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Central) had 7 points and 5 rebounds.  Sophomore Anthony Rhodes (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) added 7 points and 6 rebounds off the bench and sophomore Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) chipped in 7 points.  Freshman Darius Bland (Willingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) added 6 points and 5 rebounds in the win. 

 

The Vikings next travel to Lackawanna (2-3) for a 7:00 PM game on Tuesday, November 21st.

 


Mercer Falls to Middlesex 53-68

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball fell to 2-2 following a 68-53 loss vs Middlesex College (4-0).  The Vikings struggled offensively, shooting just 29% from the field.

 

Sophomore Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) led the Vikings with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.  Sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) had 10 points and 5 rebounds and sophomore Izaiah Johnson (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) added 10 points in the loss.  Sophomore Jason Mark (Broward, FL/Blanche Ely HS) had 8 points and freshman Darius Bland (Wilingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) added 6 points in the losing effort.

 

The Vikings next travel to Frederick Community College (0-0) for a 3:00 PM game on Saturday, November 18th.

 

Mercer Dominates RCSJ-Gloucester 68-34 for Second Win of Season

Sewell, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball moved to 2-1 on the season following a 68-34 win at RCSJ-Gloucester (0-2).  In a game the Vikings dominated from start to finish, MCCC got a very balanced effort from the team to cruise to the win.

 

Mercer started the game on a 19-3 run.  The closest the Roadrunners got was within 12 points early in the second half, but the Vikings outscored the Roadrunners 43-25 to close out the game .

 

Freshman Darius Bland (Willingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) had 10 points, 5 steals and 4 rebounds to lead the Vikings. Freshman Jayson Love (Philadelphia, PA/Academy at Palumbo) and sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) each had 9 points in the win.  Sophomore Khristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) scored 8 points and freshman Fred Orock (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown HS) had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists.  Freshman Quincey Manning (Blackwood, NJ/Winslow Twp.) added 6 points and 6 rebounds, sophomore Izaiah Johnson (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and sophomore Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) added 5 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

 

 

Men's Basketball Falls to CCBC-Catonsville 63-84 in Don Beasley Mixer

Baltimore, MD-Mercer men’s basketball (1-1) fell to CCBC-Catonsville (3-0) 63-84 in their second game of the Don Beasley Mixer hosted by CCBC-Dundalk.  Freshman Darius Bland (Willingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) led the Vikings with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 1 block.  Sophomore Jason Mark (Broward, FL/Blance Ely HS) had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.  Freshman Jayson Love (Philadelphia, PA/Academy at Palumbo) had 10 points and 4 rebounds off the bench.  Sophomore Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the loss.

Men's Basketball Opens Season with 89-83 Win over College of Southern Maryland

Baltimore, MD-Mercer men’s basketball (1-0) opened the 2023-2024 season with an 89-83 win over Southern Maryland (1-1) in the Don Beasley Mixer at CCBC-Dundalk.  In a back and forth battle, the Vikings held on for the win.  Sophomore Izaiah Johnson (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 25 points, including 4 three’s in the win.  Sophomore Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blance Ely HS) had 17 points and 6 rebounds and freshman Darius Bland (Willingboro, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

 

Sophomore Justin Carbone (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) scored 16 points and freshman Quincey Manning (Blackwood, NJ/Winslow Twp.) had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win.  Sophomore Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) pulled down 8 rebounds and freshman Fred Orock (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown HS) added 5 points and had 4 rebounds in the win.

 

The Vikings will play their second game of the Don Beasley Mixer at 5:00 PM today vs CCBC-Catonsville (1-0).
