Mercer Ends Season with 62-54 Win vs Harford

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (12-15) closed out the 2022-2023 season with a 62-54 win vs Harford Community College.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) led the Vikings with a career and game high 19 points and also had 8 rebounds .  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in the win.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) had 11 points and 5 rebounds and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 8 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists and 1 block.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had 6 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in the win. 

 

Mercer Drops Fifth Straight, Falls to Brookdale 71-110

Lincroft, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (11-15) dropped their fifth straight, falling to Brookdale 71-110.  Brookdale is ranked 5th in the nation in NJCAA Division III basketball.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 29 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had 17 points, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals and freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) also had 7 points in the loss.  Freshman Gianni Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added 5 points and 4 assist in the loss.  The Vikings close out their season Saturday, February 18th with a 12:00 PM game vs Harford.

 

Mercer Loses Heartbreaker on Valentine's Day, 67-70 vs Raritan Valley

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (11-14) lost a heartbreaker on Valentine’s Day, falling 67-70 to Raritan Valley.  With the loss, the Vikings miss qualifying for the Region 19 Playoffs.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals and freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added 20 points and 8 rebounds.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) had 13 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) grabbed 13 rebounds and freshman Kristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) dished out 4 assists in the loss.  The Vikings travel to Brookdale for a 7:00 PM game on Thursday, February 16th.

 

Mercer Drops Third Straight with 56-73 Loss at Lackawanna

Scranton, PA-Mercer men’s basketball (11-13) dropped their third straight game, falling to Lackawanna 56-73.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) had 16 points and 5 rebounds and freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely) added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had 7 points and 6 rebounds and freshman Kristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) added 5 points and 5 rebounds in the loss.  The Vikings next host Raritan Valley ay 6:00 PM on February 14th in a game the Vikings must win to get into the Region 19 playoffs.

 

Mercer Drops Second Straight, Losing at Morris 50-69

Randolph, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (11-12) dropped their second straight game, losing 50-69 at County College of Morris.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) led the Vikings with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals in the loss.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added 10 points and freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had 6 rebounds in the losing effort.  The Vikings will look to get back to .500 as they travel for a 1:00 PM game at Lackawanna on February 11th.

 Bryn Mawr, PA-Mercer men’s basketball (11-11) fell to Harcum 64-116.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) had 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had 9 points and freshman Ishman McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) added 8 points in the loss.  The Vikings will travel to County College of Morris on Thursday, February 9th at 6:00 PM for a big Region 19 game.

 

Mercer Gets Another Big Region Win, Beating Essex 76-66

Newark, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (11-10) picked up another big Region 19 win, beating Essex County College 76-66.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) had 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) also had 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 asissts.  Freshman Kristian Smith (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 12 points off the bench and freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) was the fourth Viking with to score in double digits, finishing with 10 points.  Freshman Gianni Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals and freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) added 6 points  and 4 assists in the win. The Vikings next travel to Harcum for a 4:00 PM game on Monday, February 6th.

 

Mercer Holds off Del Tech for 95-86 Win on Cancer Awareness Night

 West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (10-10) got back to .500 with a 95-86 win vs Del Tech on Cancer Awareness Night.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) had 22 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals and freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton) also had 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) was the third Viking with 20 or more points, finishing with 20 points including 4 three pointers.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) had a double double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 4 assists and 3 steals.  Freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blance Ely HS) added 7 points off the bench in the win.  The Vikings next travel to Essex for a 12 PM game on Saturday, February 4th for a key Region game.

 

Mercer Gets Back in Win Column with 80-72 Win at CCP

Philadelphia, PA-Mercer men’s basketball (9-10) got back in the win column with a 80-72 win at Community College of Philadelphia.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) had 20 points and 8 rebounds and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the win.  Freshman Giani Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and freshman Kristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) chipped in 6 points and 4 assists in the winning effort.  The Vikings next host Del Tech on Tuesday, January 31st at 6:00 PM for Cancer Awareness Night.

Mercer Falls One Point Short Against Northampton, Losing 57-58

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (8-10) fell to Northampton Community College 57-58.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) had a career high 29 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 9 points and 5 rebounds and freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had 6 points and 8 rebounds in the losing effort.  The Vikings will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Community College of Philadelphia for a 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 28th.

 

#4 Ranked Orange County Routs Mercer 54-99

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (8-9) lost to Orange County (NY) 54-99.  Orange is 15-0 and currently ranked #4 in the country after previously being ranked #2 in the nation.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) led the Vikings with 20 points and 7 assists. Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) had 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) each added 8 points in the loss.  The Vikings next host Northampton Community College on Tuesday, January 24th at 6:00 PM.

Mercer Gets Buzzer Beater Win over Morris 56-54

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (8-8) picked up their eighth win of the season with a thrilling 56-54 win over County College of Morris. Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) hit a game-winning basket at the buzzer to get the Vikings back to .500 on the season.  Rhodes finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led the Vikings with 18 points and was a perfect 7 for 7 from the free throw line.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) added 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Freshman Giani Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had 7 points and freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton) added 6 points and 11 rebounds in the win.  The Vikings next travel to Compass Academy for a 4:00 PM game on Thursday, January 19th.

Mercer Opens 2023 with a 78-67 Win over RCSJ Cumberland

Vineland, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (7-8) beat Rowan College at South Jersey Cumberland 78-67 in their first game of 2023.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led the Vikings with 19 points including four threes.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City) had a triple double with 13 assists, 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) had a double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Freshman Khristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had 16 points including 4 threes.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) added 8 points and freshman Gianni Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had 6 points in the win.  The Vikings next host County College of Morris on Saturday, January 14th at 12:00 PM.

Mercer Closes out 2022 with a 61-68 Loss vs CCBC-Catonsville

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (6-8) fell short of a win in their final game of 2022, losing 61-68 to CCBC-Catonsville.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) led the Vikings with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) had 11 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.  Freshman Kristian Smith (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had 8 points off the bench for the Vikings.  Freshmen Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) and Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) each had 7 rebounds in the losing effort.  The Vikings will be off until Tuesday, January 10th when they will travel to RCSJ Cumberland for a 6:00 PM game.

Frederick, MD-Mercer men's basketball (6-7) fell below .500 with a 56-71 loss at Frederick Community College.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) led the Vikings with 17 points and freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) added 13 points in the loss.  Freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) had 10 points and freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) pulled down 11 rebounds.  Freshman Ricky Boone (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) added 5 points off the bench in the losing effort. The Vikings next host CCBC-Catonsville at 6:00 PM for their final game of 2022.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (4-6) picked up their fourth win of the season with a 78-68 victory vs Atlantic Cape Community College.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) had 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) also had 15 points to go along with 6 rebounds.  Another Viking freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) had 15 points and freshman Gianni Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added 9 points off the bench.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) had 7 points and freshman Jason Mark (Broward City, FL/Blanche Ely HS) added 7 points and 4 rebounds in the win.  The Vikings next travel to Del Tech for a 12 PM game on Saturday, December 10th.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer men’s basketball (3-5) dropped their second straight game, falling to Lackawanna 68-88.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) led the Vikings with 24 points and freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) added 14 points in the loss.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) had 9 points and 5 steals and freshman Giani Blango (Willingboro, NJ/Rancocas Valley) added 9 points off the bench.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton) had 8 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the losing effort.  The Vikings will look to rebound Tuesday, December 6th when they travel to Raritan Valley for a 7:00 PM game.

Mercer Drops Game at Chesapeake

Wye Mills, MD-Mercer men’s basketball (3-4) struggled on the road, falling to Chesapeake College 55-108.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led the Vikings with 15 points.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) had 9 points and 5 assists and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) also had 9 points in the loss.  Freshmen Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) and Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) each had 8 points in the losing effort.  The Vikings will look to get back in the win column when they return home to host Region 19 opponent Lackawanna on Saturday, December 3rd at 12:00 PM.

 

Mercer Beats Northern Virginia 70-59 for Third Win of Season

Annandale, VA-Mercer men’s basketball (3-3) picked up their third win of the season with a 70-59 win at Northern Virginia Community College.  Freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) led the Vikings with a game-high 26 points and 7 rebounds.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) had 17 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and freshman Noel Nabors (Florence, NJ/Florence Township Memorial HS) added 16 points and 5 steals off the bench.  The Vikings will be off for the Thanksgiving holiday and return to action on Tuesday, November 29th for a 6:00 PM game at Chesapeake College.

Cecil Edges Mercer 64-69

Northeast, MD-Mercer men’s basketball (2-3) dropped their second straight game with a 64-69 loss at Cecil College.  The Vikings were led by 19 points and 7 rebounds from freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton HS) and 17 points and 7 rebounds from freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS).  Freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) added 14 points and freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) had 6 points and 7 rebounds in the losing effort.  The Vikings are back on the floor tomorrow, Sunday, November 20th at Northern Virginia Community College for a 1:00 PM game.

MERCER MEN'S BASKETBALL GETS SECOND WIN AT SUNY ULSTER

Stone Ridge, NY- Mercer men’s basketball moved to 2-1 on the season following a 79-64 win at SUNY Ulster Saturday.  The Vikings were led by freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) who had 6 three pointers and finished with 24 points.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) also had 24 points in the win along with 4 assists and 4 rebounds.  Freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton) had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.  Freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) added 9 points and freshman Dejuan Hunter (Burlington City, NJ/Burlington City HS) had 7 points in the win.  The Vikings next host Essex County College on Thursday, November 17th at 6 PM.

West Windsor, NJ- Mercer men’s basketball (1-1) picked up their first win of the 2022-2023 season with a 79-64 win over Camden County College.  Freshman Izaiah Johnson (Philadelphia, PA/Burlington City HS) led the Vikings with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Freshman Deon Sanders (Brooklyn, NY/Cherry Hill East) had 18 points and freshman Jake Manuel (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro North) added 15 points, including 4 three-pointers in the win.  Freshman Anthony Rhodes (Trenton, NJ/Nottingham) chipped in 8 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks and freshman Isham McClain (Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp. HS) dished out 5 assists to go along with 4 points and 4 rebounds.  The Vikings led from start to finish in the season-opening win, up by as many as 21 points in the second half.  The Vikings next travel to SUNY Ulster for a 1:00 PM game Saturday, November 12th.
