Scranton, PA-Mercer baseball (25-12) beat Lackawanna (16-18) in Game 1 of their doubleheader 11-2. Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) had two hits and two RBIs. Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had 2 RBIs and sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 3 with three runs and an RBI.
Freshman pitcher Collin Williams (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) had five strikeouts in four innings, allowing just one earned run in his second win of the season. Freshman relief pitcher Hamlet Disla (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsuaken Tech) struck out two and allowed just one earned run over three innings in the win.
Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each had an RBI in the Game 1 win.
