La Plata, MD-Mercer baseball (13-8) won Game 1 of their doubleheader at College of Southern Maryland (6-14) 12-7 in nine innings. Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottinham) went 2 for 5 with a home run and 4 RBIs and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) was 3 for 5 with a double, home run and 2 RBIs. Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had a triple and 2 RBIs and freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) added an RBI in the win. Sophomore pitcher Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) threw four scoreless innings of relief for the win.
