Mercer Loses 8-15 at Suffolk CCC in Game 2 of Doubleheader

Selden, NY-Mercer baseball (21-12) lost Game 2 of their doubleheader at Suffolk CCC (15-10) 8-15.  The Vikings managed just four hits in the game.  Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshmen Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS), Joe Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford HS) and Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) each had an RBI in the loss. 

 

Mercer next plays Lackawanna College (13-15) in a 3:00 PM game on Friday, April 12th.

 

Mercer Beats Suffolk CCC 14-2 in Game 1 of Doubleheader

Selden, NY-Mercer baseball (21-11) beat Suffolk CCC (14-10) 14-2 in Game 1 of their doubleheader.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a home run and 5 RBIs and sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and freshman Joey Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford HS) each had 2 RBIs in the win.  Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) struck out seven in five innings and allowed 0 earned runs in his fifth win of the season.  Freshman pitcher Hamlet Disla (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) had six strikeouts in two innings of relief.

 

Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham), Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) and freshmen Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) and Eddison Ramos (Providence, RI/E Cubed Academy) all had an RBI in the win.

Randolph, NJ-Mercer baseball (20-10) beat County College of Morris (14-8) 13-7 in Game 1 of their doubleheader.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 3 with a home run and 6 RBIs and freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) was 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had two doubles and an RBI.

 

Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had a double and RBI and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) was 2 for 3 with two doubles and 3 runs.  Sophomore pitcher Ryan Mignogna (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame) had three strikeouts in five innings for his second win of the season.

 

Mercer Holds Off Sussex in 7-6 Win

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (19-10) held on to edge Sussex CCC (10-10) 7-6 in Game 2 of their doubleheader.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a home run and 3 RBIs and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had a double and 2 RBIs.  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) added 2 RBIs in the win.

 

Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) allowed just one earned run and struck out four in six innings in his fourth win of the season.

 

The Vikings next host Salem CC (8-13) at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2nd.

 

Mercer Beats Sussex 3-1 in Game 1 of Doubleheader

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (18-10) beat Sussex CCC (10-9) 3-1 in Game 2 of their doubleheader.  Freshman pitcher Collin Williams (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) allowed 0 earned run, just one hit and struck out ten in four innings for the win.  Sophomore relief pitcher Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) struck out four in 2.2 innings pitched for his third save of the season.

 

Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) added an RBI in the win.

 

 

Mercer Opens Series vs Sussex with 13-3 Win

Newton, NJ-Mercer baseball moved to 17-10 following a 13-3 win at Sussex CCC (10-8).  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had two hits and two RBIs in the win.  Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had 2 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a double and RBI.

 

Sophomore pitcher Josh Youngberg (Delran, NJ/Delran HS) had six strikeouts in five innings for his first win of the season.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) and sophomore Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) each added an RBI in the win.

 

The Vikings are back in action hosting Sussex CCC in a 12:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday, March 30th.

 

 

Mercer Falls to Top Ranked RCSJ-Gloucester 4-12

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (16-10) lost to RCSJ-Gloucester (20-4) 4-12 in nine innings.  RCSJ-Gloucester is currently the top ranked team in NJCAA Division III Baseball.  The Vikings got within one run in the fifth 4-5 before the Roadrunners offense scored six runs over the next two innings.

 

Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had a home run and RBI and sophomore Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added an RBI in the loss.  Sophomore Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 3 for 3 in the loss and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each had two hits in the losing effort.

Mercer Rallies in 6th Inning to Beat Del Tech 3-1 in Game 2 of Doubleheader

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (16-9) rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Del Tech (10-16) 3-1 in Game 2 of their doubleheader.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) had a triple and RBI and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Sophomore pitcher Colin Bernhard (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) allowed just one earned run in seven innings in his second win of the season.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) added an RBI in the win.

 

The Vikings next host RCSJ-Gloucester (16-2), the top ranked team in NJCAA Division III in a 3:30 game on Tuesday, March 26th.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (15-9) beat Del Tech (10-15) in Game 1 of their doubleheader 19-3 in seven innings.  Freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had a triple and 4 RBIs and sophomore Andrew Glatt (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown HS) had a home run and 4 RBIs.  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) had a home run and 2 RBIs and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs.  Sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) added 2 RBIs in the win.

Georgetown, DE-Mercer baseball got their 14th win of the season beating Del Tech (10-14) 14-1 in seven innings.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had a big day at the plate, going 4 for 5 with a double and 3 RBIs and freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) had a double and 3 RBIs in the win.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each added 2 RBIs in the win and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

 

Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) allowed no earned runs in seven innings in his third win of the season.  Sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) each added an RBI in the win.

La Plata, MD-Mercer baseball (13-9) lost Game 2 of their doubleheader at College of Southern Maryland (7-14) 7-11 in seven innings.  Freshman Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) had 2 RBIs in the loss.  Sophomores Dylan Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Wyatt Baker (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) each had an RBI in the loss.  Freshman pitcher Hamley Disla (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) had three strikeouts in two innings of relief.

Myrtle Beach, SC-Mercer baseball beat Prince George’s CC 13-5 in seven innings.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 3 with a double and 4 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) was 2 for 3 with two doubles and 3 RBIs.  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) had a double and 2 RBIs and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) added 2 RBIs in the win. 

 

Freshman pitcher Connor Parsons (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) struck out seven in five innings in the win and sophomore Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) added an RBI in the win.

Myrtle Beach, SC-Mercer baseball (11-7) lost Game 2 of their doubleheader vs Sullivan County CC (2-4) 1-3.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had the lone Viking RBI and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) had two of the Vikings three hits of the game.  Sophomore pitcher Colin Bernhard (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) struck out five in six innings in the loss.

Myrtle Beach, SC-Mercer baseball (11-6) won their first game vs Sullivan County CC (2-3) 12-9.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 4 with a double and 4 RBIs and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 3 for 4 with a triple and 3 RBIs.  Sophomore Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had 2 RBIs and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Mercer Opens Myrtle Beach Trip with 6-5 Win over Clark State CC

Myrtle Beach, SC-Mercer baseball (9-6) opened up their trip to Myrtle Beach with a 6-5 win over Clark State CC (4-11).  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI and freshman Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) added a double and two hits in the win.  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 4 with an RBI and sophomore Tyler Gonzalez East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) and freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added an RBI in the win.

 

Sophomore pitcher Ryan Migogna (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame) struck out five in three innings and sophomore pitcher Josh Youngberg (Delran, NJ/Delran HS) struck out three in two innings of relief.

 

Mercer Loses 5-8 in Game 2 of Doubleheader vs Monroe College

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (8-6) dropped Game 2 of their doubleheader vs Monroe College (9-10), 5-8 in seven innings.  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs and sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) added an RBI in the loss.

 

The Vikings will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Myrtle Beach for six games, opening with a doubleheader vs Clark State (2-5) on Friday, March 15th at 9:00 AM.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (8-5) fell in Game 1 of their doubleheader vs Monroe College, 4-5 in seven innings.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) had a double and 2 RBIs and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 2 for 4 with an RBI in the loss.

 

Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) had four strikeouts in four innings in the loss.  Freshman James Hyman (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) struck out three in two innings of relief and freshman Hamlet Disla (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) struck out three in one inning of relief.

 

Mercer Shut Out 0-7 in Game 2 of Doubleheader at Monroe

Bronx, NY-Mercer baseball fell to 8-4 following a 0-7 loss in Game 2 of their doubleheader at Monroe College (7-10) in seven innings.  Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had the Vikings lone hit in the loss. 

 

Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) struck out five in 3.1 innings and freshman pitcher Connor Parsons (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) had four strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief in the loss.

 

The Vikings will look to get back into the win column when they host Monroe in a 12:00 PM doubleheader on Sunday, March 10th at 12:00 PM.

Sophomore pitcher Matteo Gravano (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra HS) had three strikeouts in one inning of relief work.  Freshman Joey Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) had the lone Viking hit of the game.

Bel Air, MD-Mercer baseball (8-1) suffered their first loss of the 2024 season, losing Game 1 of their doubleheader 3-13 in five innings at Harford CC (9-5).  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had 2 RBIs in the loss.

 

Mercer Baseball Moves to 8-0 Following 9-6 Game 2 Win Vs SUNY Westchester CC in Doubleheader

 

 

The Vikings moved to 8-0 on the season following a 9-6 Game 2 win over SUNY Westchester CC (4-2).  Sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) had a big day at the plate going 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs.  Freshman Don Gallagher (Stockton, NJ/South Hunterdon) and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) each went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Freshman Geno Bianco (North Wales, PA/Lansdale Catholic) and sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) each added an RBI in the win.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball moved to 7-0 on the 2024 season following a 1-0 Game 1 win over SUNY Westchester CC (4-1) of a doubleheader.  Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) struck out three in five innings to earn his second win of the season.  Sophomore reliever Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) earned his second save of the season.  Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 2 for 3 in the win.

 

Mercer Baseball Moves to 6-0 on 2024 Season Following Game 2 Sweep of Rockland CC

 

Mercer baseball moved to 6-0 on the 2024 season following an 11-6 Game 2 win in a doubleheader vs Rockland CC (0-4).  The Vikings held on for the win after going up 8-2 in the bottom of the second.  Freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) had a grand slam and 4 RBIs to lead the Vikings.  Sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) went 3 for 4 with 3 runs and an RBI and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) was 2 for 3 with 2 runs and an RBI.

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball took Game 1 of their doubleheader vs Rockland CC (0-3) 5-1 to move to 5-0 on the 2024 season.  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and sophomores Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) and Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) each added an RBI in the win.  Sophomore pitcher Colin Bernhard (Florence, NJ/Florence Twp. Memorial) struck out three in five innings for his first win of the season.

 

Mercer Sweeps UConn Avery Point in Doubleheader with 7-4 Game 2 Win

Mercer baseball moved to 4-0 on the 2024 season following a 7-4 win in Game 2 of their doubleheader vs UConn Avery Point (0-2).  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and sophomore Tyler Gonzalez (East Hartford, CT/Cheshire Academy) had a double and two RBIs.

 

Sophomore Joe Giori (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went 3 for 3 with an RBI and sophomore Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) added two RBIs in the in the win.  Freshman pitcher Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown HS) struck out three in three innings in earning his first collegiate win.

 

The Vikings next host Rockland CC (0-2) in a 12:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday, March 2nd.

 

Mercer Edges UConn Avery Point in Pitchers Duel in Game 1 of Doubleheader 2-0

West Windsor, NJ-Mercer baseball (3-0) held on for a 2-0 win vs UConn Avery Point (0-1) in Game 1 of a doubleheader.  Sophomore pitcher Joe Dimino (Millstone, NJ/Allentown HS) struck out four in 3.2 innings pitched for his first win of the season and sophomore pitcher Ryan Mignogna (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame) struck out four in 2.1 innings of relief work. 

 

The Vikings were held to just two hits in the game with freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) providing the only Mercer RBI of the game.  Sophomore closer Ryan Conover (Hamilton, NJ/Notre Dame) picked up his first save of the season in the win.

 

Mercer Routs Suffolk CC 13-5 to Sweep Season Opening Doubleheader

Mercer baseball moved to 2-0 on the season following a 13-5 win over Suffolk CCC (0-6) in Game 2 of their doubleheader.  The Vikings rallied for eight runs in the fourth inning after being tied 4-4 after two innings.

 

Sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) had a big day at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double, triple and 4 RBIs and sophomore Evrin Virola (Edison, NJ/Edison HS) went 2 for 3 with a triple, three runs and three RBIs. 

 

Freshman Joey Socorro (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford HS) went 3 for 4 with a double two runs and two RBIs and freshman Shane Hickey (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) added two RBIs in the win.  Freshman pitcher Matteo Mannino (Wrightstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) struck out four in 4.2 innings and earned his first collegiate win. 

 

The Vikings are back in action in a doubleheader at 12:00 PM, Monday, February 26th vs UConn Avery Point (0-0).

West Windsor, NJ-MCCC baseball (1-0) opened the 2024 season with a 7-1 Game 1 win over Suffolk CCC (0-5) in seven innings.  Sophomore Bannon Brazell (Vienna, VA/James Madison HS) went 3 for 3 with a double and RBI, sophomore Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, NJ/Nottingham) had a double and 2 RBIs and sophomore Ryan Ulisse (Columbus, NJ/Holy Cross) added two RBIs in the win.

 

Sophomore pitcher Dyllon King (Old Saybrook, CT/Cheshire Academy) struck out four in five innings en route to his first MCCC win.  Freshman Jake Pope (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) went for 2 for 3 with 2 runs.
