2024 Men's Lacrosse Season Preview

MCCC men’s lacrosse will enter their sixth season under first year Head Coach Ben Whitcraft.  The Vikings return three All-Region players and will look to continue the success of Mercer's young program.  Sophomore midfielder Braden Travaglini (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional) had 16 goals in the 2023 season.  Sophomore faceoff specialist Izzy Miranda (Tampa, FL/Tampa Catholic) won 67 out of 100 faceoffs last spring, which was 10th best in the nation.  Sophomore defender Theo DeBerghes (Howell, NJ/Howell HS) returns from injury and had 75 ground balls in the 2022 season, which was fifth best in the nation.

Newcomers expected to contribute on the defensive side include Liam Halloran, Nolan Halloran and Daniel Lynch from Pennsbury.  Offensively, freshman attacker Owen McAdams (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored 18 goals for Steinert last spring along with 33 assists, including eight in one game.

The Vikings return defender Tyler Unkert (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional) from the 2023 MCCC team.  Mercer has several incoming freshman from Calabar High School in Jamaica expected to contribute including attacker Ashani Harvey, midfielder Shaquon Sullivan and defender Chevaughn McDonald.

The Vikings will look to build on last season’s success and be competitive in Region 19. The Vikings have a tough regular season schedule which includes last year’s National Champion Harford CC and National Runner-Up Nassau CC.

The Vikings open the 2024 season on Friday, March 1st vs Hudson Valley CC.
