Women's Tennis Has Highest Ever Finish at Division I National Championship

 

Mercer women’s tennis culminated their successful 2025 season with their highest ever finish at the Division I NJCAA National Championship.  The Vikings finished 22nd with seven points.

 

Mercer opened the tournament with three wins on their first day of competition.  Sophomore Makenna Swasey (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and freshman Sarvin Salehi (Tehran, Iran/Fatemah Zahra HS) got a 6-3, 6-1 win over Glendale CC at 3rd Doubles.  Freshman Aida Torrealba (San Felipe, Venezuela) got a 6-4, 6-2 win at 5th Singles in her opening match vs Collin College.  Sophomore Andrea Vasquez (San Felipe, Venezuela/Hightstown HS) and Torrealba opened with a 6-3, 6-0 win at 2nd Doubles over Morraine Valley.

 

Mercer also picked up points in the back draw with their 1st Doubles team of sophomore Diana Kalajdzic (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) and freshman Julia Fillat Ferrer (Barcelona, Spain) won their quarterfinal consolation match 8-1 over Glendale CC.

 

In the regular season this spring, MCCC women’s tennis finished 5-3.  This was the first season under Head Coach Qasim Khan.
