Women's Soccer Edges Sussex 1-0 for Big Region Win

Mercer women’s soccer picked up a big Region win on October 8th vs Sussex County CC 1-0.  Heading into the match, Sussex was 9-0, but MCCC put up a battle and held on for a 1-0 win.

Both teams remained scoreless for most of the contest until a high arching kick from sophomore Charlotte Sayer (Ipswich, England/Kesgrave HS) went just over the head of Sussex’s goalkeeper for the only goal of the match.

The win gave Mercer their fifth win in six games but more importantly, the win locked up home field advantage for the Mustangs for the Region 19 Semifinals on October 30th.

Mercer is 8-4-4 and will play in their final regular season game vs Harford at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 18th.
