Mercer women’s soccer got a big Region win on October 4th, edging rival Essex 1-0. Sophomore Louise Stritch scored the lone goal of the game off an assist from freshman Lucia Minambres. The goal was deemed a “birthday goal” as Stritch scored her third goal of the season on her birthday.
The win was a big one for Mercer as they enter their final regular season games and push for a top seed in the Region 19 Playoffs. Mercer tied Essex 3-3 on September 17th, making the win critical in order to get one of the top seeds. Mercer will play Sussex, who is currently undefeated in the Region on Wednesday, October 8th and Lackawanna on Saturday, October 11th.
