Mercer women’s basketball will be returning to the Region 19 Playoffs this season. The Mustangs are currently ranked 14th in DII women’s basketball and are battling for a top seed in the Region 19 Playoffs. MCCC faces two key games to close out the regular season when they face #3 Harcum and #12 Union.
Two of the Mustangs three losses have come against Harcum and Union, making these final two regular season games so big. “The national rankings don’t matter” said Coach Bob Fusik “it’s Harcum and Union we are focused on.” Mercer, Harcum and Union will all be battling for the top seeds in the Region 19 Playoff. But even more important there are also two at large bids to the NJCAA National Tournament if Mercer fails to reach the Region 19 final, which “is why these final two regular season games are so important. “We will get attention if we beat Harcum. They only have one loss all season. The game Saturday is not just important for seeding in the Region playoffs, but for us nationally.”
Mercer has been on a ten-game winning streak and looks to continue this streak as the regular season comes to an end. The Mustangs host Harcum on Saturday, February 14th at 12:00 PM and end their regular season vs Union at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, February 17th.
