For the second straight week, Mercer women’s basketball has received votes in the NJCAA Division II National Poll. The Mustangs are off to a strong start at 7-2 with their only losses coming against two of the top ranked teams in the county. Both of these losses were close too, making it somewhat surprising that MCCC has yet to move up into the top 25, but polls don’t matter.
Head Women’s Coach Bob Fusik admits he doesn’t pay any attention to the weekly polls. “We just focus on getting better every day and on our goals for the end of the season.”
And while the team and coach may not poll watch, it’s exciting for the MCCC Athletic Department and fans to see Mercer women’s basketball gain national attention.
