MCCC Women's Basketball Hosts Kids Day

 2/3/26

On Saturday, January 31st, Mercer women’s basketball hosted Kids’ Day for their game vs Essex.  Youth players from Hamilton PAL and Monroe Township Rec Leagues were invited to play on the college court at halftime and participate in a meet and great with the team following the game.

Mercer’s players signed team photos for the youth players and took pictures with the players after their 82-64 win.  It’s a great experience for both the youth players and Mercer’s players.  Mike Kostinas who runs the Hamilton PAL League was thrilled for the opportunity to bring players from his league to the game.  “This allows young players to see what it’s like to play at the next level.  They can see that maybe one day they can play college basketball too.”

Head Coach Bob Fusik said it’s a great opportunity for MCCC and his players.  “Having this day introduces young players to Mercer and brings families to our campus.  They may remember this experience and want to come here when they are older.  It also allows our players to see that young players look up to them which is just one of many benefits of playing collegiate sports.”

The day was a win not just on the court for Mercer but a bigger win off the court.
