MCCC Women's Basketball Hosts Holiday Clinic and Showcase

On December 26th, MCCC women’s basketball hosted a Holiday Clinic for girls in grades 1-8.  Mercer’s players and coaches ran the clinic which was the opening event for the MCCC Holiday Showcase on December 27th-28th featuring ten high school teams.

The clinic was held in two groups: grades 1-4 and 5-8.  Snow was falling that evening, limiting turnout for the clinic, but Head Coach Bob Fusik still thought that clinic was a big success.  “The girls that did come out for the clinic had a great time and got plenty of attention from our players and staff.  Our players enjoyed working with the younger players and serving as counselors at the clinic.”

This is the second year MCCC women’s basketball has hosted this clinic and showcase which they use as both a fundraiser and chance to show the community the college and what MCCC has to offer.  Fusik had six players from the ten high school teams who played in the tournament meet with the Mercer coaching staff and tour the campus.  “This is one of the reasons we want to have this showcase.  It allows us to introduce potential students to MCCC.  The opportunity to not just attend college but continue their basketball careers can help attract more students to the college and is the value of college athletics.”
